Project name: Hairdresser Project
Instructor: Rachel Keebler
Purpose: to learn and practice fabrication of architectural elements; and then painting the sculpture trompe l'oeil. "Is it real, or is it painted? Only her Hairdresser knows" - Rachel Keebler
Challenges: figuring out what materials to use in fabrication, BRUSH CONTROL!!

Instructor: Rachel Keebler
Purpose: to learn and practice painting drapery
Challenges: water and paint control

Project name: Theatre Marble 1
Instructor: Rachel Keebler
Purpose: to learn and practice painting marble for the theatre
Challenges: developing marble process

Project name: "Lights and Darks"

Purpose: to learn and practice adding highlight and shadow to create shaping; trompe l'oeil

Project name: Painting Faces

Purpose: to learn and practice drawing and painting faces
Challenges: drawing the face correctly, getting the colors mixed correctly, working vertically

Purpose: to experience a historical method of painting; painting "a la prima", or with dry pigment and hide glue
Challenges: mixing/finding the right color as you're making in on the palette

Project name: Translucency Seminar
Instructor: Rachel Keebler
Purpose: to learn and practice painting Translucencies and working with different dyes
Challenges: working with dyes for the first time, controlling wetness and avoiding flooding

Project name: Foliage 2 Seminar
Instructor: Rachel Keebler
Purpose: to learn and practice painting foliage in the manner of an artist. Non-photorealistic
Challenges: color matching, capturing the "essence" of the artist's style and brushstroke
Project name: Stenciling 2
Instructor: Rachel Keebler
Purpose: to learn and practice making stencils from a source material and from scratch (wallpaper/historical pattern book)
Challenges: figuring out the number of stencils you need, creating each individual stencil, figuring out the registration marks and how each iteration connects to the next, first experience with applying gold leaf

Instructor: Rachel Keebler
Purpose: to learn and practice painting reflective objects
Challenges: painting what you see, even if it doesn't really make sense, trusting the process, creative masking

Project name: Historical Scene Painting Seminar
Instructor: Wendy Waszut-Barrett
Purpose: to learn about the history of scenic art and the methods in which they painted
Challenges: using distemper paint (dry pigment and hide glue), and getting the right opacity, color, and amount of paint you need using this method
